Proper care after a kidney biopsy is key to improving your dog’s chances of a successful recovery. Choosing the right care products and methods is essential.

This is not a table recommending specific products or hospitals, but a reference for when you consult your veterinarian. Decisions about treatment and testing must always be made together with your veterinarian through an examination.
Caution: Excessive Water Intake Is Prohibited After Biopsy
A kidney biopsy involves removing a small sample of the highly vascularized kidney tissue, so the most important concern after the procedure is the risk of complications such as bleeding. In fact, bleeding has been reported as a complication in some patients following a biopsy. Therefore, rather than making your own decisions about post-procedure care, including fluid intake, it is safest to strictly follow the veterinarian’s instructions regarding methods and amounts. Contact the clinic immediately if you notice any abnormalities such as blood in the urine, fever, or lethargy.
