Puppy probiotics are live microbial supplements that help maintain a healthy balance of beneficial gut bacteria in puppies from 2 months to 1 year of age. The key point is that the specific strains needed vary depending on the puppy’s developmental stage.

Precautions When Feeding Probiotics to Puppies
We do not recommend giving human probiotics to dogs as-is. Veterinary textbooks also recommend using dog-specific products from reputable manufacturers rather than human or general commercial products. Human products may contain ingredients that are not suitable for dogs, so always check the ingredient list. If used alongside antibiotics, the effectiveness of the probiotics may be reduced, so administer them at different times and consult your veterinarian for the correct method. If diarrhea persists for more than three days, probiotics alone are not sufficient, and a veterinary visit is necessary.

When Puppies Need Veterinary Care Before Probiotics
If your puppy is experiencing diarrhea accompanied by blood or vomiting, has refused food for more than 24 hours, or shows signs of lethargy and fever, do not attempt to treat these symptoms with probiotics. These could be signs of a serious condition such as parvovirus, coronavirus, or a parasitic infection. In puppies under four months of age, dehydration can progress rapidly, so it is safest to visit the veterinarian on the same day symptoms appear.
