Regular nail care is essential for your cat’s overall health and well-being. With the right tools and techniques, you can keep their nails trimmed safely and comfortably, minimizing stress for both of you.

| Item | Safety | Ease of use | Cat's reaction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transparent plastic clipper | High | Very high | High |
| Scissor-type clipper | Very high | Moderate | Moderate |
| Electric filer | Very high | High | Very high |
Choose the tool suited to your cat's personality and claw condition. Beginners should start with the transparent clipper.
Caution: Avoid the Quick (Pink Area)
The pinkish inner area at the tip of a cat’s claw contains blood vessels and nerves. Cutting into this quick can cause bleeding and pain, so it’s safest to trim only small amounts from the clear, transparent tip. Black claws are especially tricky because the quick isn’t visible, so take extra care and clip very little at a time. Avoid forcing or overextending your cat’s leg; if your cat becomes anxious, stop and try again later.
